GEORGE TOWN, May 18 — Long-serving aide to Penang EXCO member, Kyle Choong, has officially been admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.

Kyle was called to the Bar on May 15 at High Court No. 3 in Penang before Judicial Commissioner Dr. Suzana Muhamad Said, marking a major milestone in his legal and public service journey.

His involvement in public service began in 2018 when he joined Wong Hon Wai’s office as an intern during Wong’s tenure as Member of Parliament for Bukit Bendera.

Following the completion of his internship, Kyle continued serving as a Parliamentary Research Assistant before later joining the Penang State EXCO Office for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) in 2023 as a Special Officer.

Over the years, Kyle has been actively involved in administrative coordination, tourism-related initiatives, and constituency service matters.

He also contributed to major Penang events, including the Penang Bridge International Marathon and the Penang International Dragon Boat Regatta.

Kyle graduated from the before completing the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP). He later took a break from his duties at Wong’s office to undergo pupillage at Messrs Cheong Wai Meng & Van Buerle under the supervision of Ms. Melody Loo Yin Hzia.

Upon completing his chambering, Kyle returned to continue serving under PETACE and will also assist at the Paya Terubong constituency service centre by providing legal guidance and assistance to the public.

Wong Hon Wai said he had often shared his own experiences in law and public service with Kyle and consistently encouraged young people to pursue their ambitions. Wong himself was admitted to the Bar in 2006.

The admission ceremony was attended by several Penang state assemblymen, including , , and , alongside colleagues from the PETACE office.
