KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — DHPP Wilayah Persekutuan chief Dr.Subash Chandrabose M.Arumugam has expressed disappointment over the condition of several business kiosks in Cheras which he claimed have been left abandoned and unused despite being built with public funds.

He said the project, which was originally intended to help small traders and local entrepreneurs, had instead become a symbol of weak planning and poor management under the government.

According to him in a Facebook statement, many Malaysians are currently struggling with rising living costs while small traders continue searching for opportunities to sustain their livelihoods.

He questioned why the kiosks were left vacant and not fully utilised despite the need for affordable business spaces.

Dr. Subash raised several questions regarding the project, including the total amount of public funds spent, whether proper feasibility studies had been conducted before implementation, and why the kiosks failed to attract or assist local traders.

He also questioned who should be held accountable for what he described as wastage involving rakyat funds.

“The government cannot continue implementing projects merely for publicity purposes without ensuring their long-term effectiveness and sustainability,” he said in a media statement.

Dr. Subash stressed that the public wanted realistic economic solutions, genuine business opportunities, and transparent governance that prioritises integrity and accountability.

He urged the relevant authorities and the Madani government to conduct a comprehensive audit on the kiosk project, identify the causes behind its failure, and take immediate action to revive the area for the benefit of the local community.

He added that many youths, small hawkers, and local entrepreneurs were still searching for business opportunities and should not be deprived while public facilities remained unused.

“The rakyat need a government that truly understands their struggles, not projects that eventually become monuments of management failure,” he said.
