KAJANG — The Re-Entry MyFutureJobs Programme held on Tuesday marks a significant initiative in supporting inmates as they transition back into the workforce and reintegrate into society.

The programme brought together 10 employers, offering a total of 1,500 job vacancies, with an estimated participation of around 300 individuals.

Among those present were Mohd Sharin bin Hj Sabtu, Director of Kajang Prison, and Muhammad Rashid bin Othman, Director of PERKESO Selangor, alongside officers from relevant agencies.

Of the total vacancies, 650 positions offer salaries below RM2,000, while 850 positions provide wages exceeding RM2,000, indicating that the majority of opportunities fall within the higher income bracket.

In terms of placement, 1,450 positions are based in Selangor, with an additional 50 roles located outside the state, reflecting a strong emphasis on local employment opportunities.

The job openings span a wide range of industries, including agriculture, wholesale and retail trade, transportation and storage, food and beverage services, as well as administrative and support services.

This diversity allows participants to pursue roles aligned with their skills and interests.

Overall, the programme not only provides employment opportunities but also serves as a critical platform for rehabilitation and social reintegration, contributing to efforts in reducing recidivism rates.

In addition, PERKESO Selangor has proposed a pilot project aimed at assisting individuals under Restricted Residence Orders to re-enter society through employment.

The initiative will involve collaboration with Polis Diraja Malaysia and Jabatan Penjara Malaysia, adopting an outreach approach to companies to create job opportunities and strengthen employer partnerships.
