KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday chaired the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting, which continued to assess the impact of the global energy crisis with a primary focus on protecting the rakyat and ensuring the security of the nation’s strategic supplies.

Anwar said efforts to curb leakages and smuggling will be further intensified through tighter monitoring of supply chains, alongside the coordinated implementation of Ops Tiris 4.0 involving multiple enforcement agencies.

The MADANI Government is also prioritising the security of medical supplies, including medicines and medical devices, through centralised stock monitoring, diversification of import sources, and emergency preparedness plans to ensure critical needs remain sufficient.

For the longer term, the government aims to strengthen strategic buffer stocks, develop local industries, and formulate a comprehensive policy framework under the MyMedSecure initiative.
The council also reviewed preparations for this year’s haj operations involving 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims, with emphasis placed on their safety and welfare.

Anwar reaffirmed that the MADANI Government will continue to act in a structured and responsible manner in managing the crisis effectively, ensuring the rakyat are protected while maintaining the nation’s resilience.
