Great food often begins with something deeply personal—a memory, a craving, or a lifelong passion waiting to be fully realised.

For the team behind Jacs N Spice, Wanda Jacobson and Gunaseelan Silattury, the founders said it was the coming together of shared experiences, cultural roots, and an undeniable love for spice-driven cuisine that set everything in motion.

What started as a passion for cooking gradually evolved into something more meaningful. Time spent in the kitchen became a space for exploration—testing recipes, refining techniques, and rediscovering flavours that felt both nostalgic and exciting.

Along the way, the food began to resonate with those around them. Friends and family connected with the dishes on an emotional level, often describing them as comforting and reminiscent of home.

That response became the clearest sign that this was more than just a hobby—it was something worth building.

The name Jacs N Spice reflects that personal foundation. “Jacs” is drawn from one founder’s family name, while “Spice” represents the “S” of the other.

Together, it symbolises not only a partnership, but also a shared identity rooted in flavour, heritage, and a commitment to bold, expressive cooking.

From the beginning, the journey has been guided by a respect for tradition and a curiosity to explore beyond it.

Before the menu took shape, there was a deliberate process of research and refinement—understanding regional techniques, experimenting with ingredients, and eventually crafting signature spice blends that would define their style.

The result is a menu that brings together a spectrum of Indian cuisine, from the robust, fiery notes of Chettinad to the aromatic, coastal influences of Kerala, layered with subtle Sri Lankan touches.

Stepping into Jacs N Spice is meant to feel easy and familiar. The space embraces a casual dining concept where the focus remains firmly on flavour—bold, aromatic, and satisfying.

It’s where traditional spice profiles meet a modern, relaxed setting, creating an experience that feels both comforting and thoughtfully elevated. Many guests find themselves returning not just for the food, but for the sense of warmth it evokes.

At the centre of the menu are the biryanis—carefully developed and deeply expressive. Each one is built on a house-made spice blend, designed to deliver aroma, balance, and depth in every bite. Served with raita and inji puli, the dish becomes a complete and harmonious experience.

Sri Lankan Deviled Prawn

Alongside it, a selection of chicken, mutton, prawn, and fish masalas showcase the same attention to detail, offering richness and consistency that echo the essence of home cooking. Signature creations like fried lamb rack and slow-cooked lamb shank biryani further highlight a dedication to quality and bold flavours.

Even the masala tea carries this philosophy forward. Made from a carefully curated house blend, each cup is brewed to bring out warmth and complexity—simple in form, yet layered in flavour, much like the food itself.

Balancing authenticity with modern expectations is at the heart of Jacs N Spice. Every dish begins with traditional foundations, then evolves through refinement—whether in flavour balance, presentation, or consistency.

Listening to customers remains key. When diners describe the food as “home-cooked,” it reinforces the idea that even as the cuisine is elevated, its soul remains untouched.

Jacs N Spice is more than a place to eat. It’s a reflection of a journey shaped by passion, culture, and craftsmanship. A place where flavours are not just created, but remembered.

Because here, every bite tells a story.

Verdict —

Beyond the classics, certain dishes have quickly become standouts. Press KL, having personally experienced the menu, highly recommends the Prawn Sambal and the Chettinad-style mutton varuval—especially when enjoyed as part of the banana leaf set.

The combination brings together spice, depth, and texture in a way that perfectly captures the restaurant’s philosophy of bold yet comforting flavours.
