KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 – UMNO Secretary-General Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki announced that new UMNO membership has risen to 11,077 since online registration was introduced last Monday, reported UMNO Online.

In a post on Facebook and Threads, he said the figure was recorded as of 8:15 PM yesterday.

“Nearly 70 percent are youth members. The state with the highest number of registrations is Johor.

“Thank you and welcome to the big UMNO family, a ‘Rumah Bangsa’ that continues to champion religion, race and nation,” he said.

Dr. Asyraf also shared a graphic showing membership statistics from the online registrations. Pahang recorded the second-highest number, followed by Perak in third place, Kelantan in fourth, and Selangor in fifth.

At the same time, Dr. Asyraf—who is also Chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat—asked social media users what motivated them to join United Malays National Organisation.

“Could I know the main reason you registered as a UMNO member?” he asked.

On Threads, some users said they trust the leadership of UMNO and Barisan Nasional in governing the country, driving progress, and maintaining social harmony.

Responding to a Facebook user who questioned the authenticity of applicants, Dr. Asyraf explained: “Everyone must complete facial recognition after scanning their identity card.”

For those interested in registering, applications can be made online via the official website: https://myumno.org/

In conjunction with UMNO’s 80th anniversary celebration, members can also obtain a free membership card at the UMNO headquarters at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur from May 1 to 5.

An upgraded card option with Touch ‘n Go functionality is also available for a minimum fee.

For the record, the UMNO Supreme Council (MKT) meeting held last Friday in Melaka approved amendments to the party’s membership regulations, allowing new member registrations to be conducted online.
