KUCHING: The Sarawak Cybersecurity Strategy and Roadmap (SCSR) 2030 has been launched as the state’s first comprehensive cybersecurity strategy aimed at strengthening the security and resilience of its growing digital ecosystem.

The strategy was launched by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg in conjunction with the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Monday.

Developed by Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), SCSR 2030 carries the vision ‘A Secure and Trusted Foundation for Sarawak’s Digital Economy’, providing strategic direction to strengthen the security, resilience and trust of the state’s digital ecosystem.

The five-year roadmap comprises 18 strategic initiatives driven by five key pillars, namely securing Sarawak’s strategic information assets, protecting people, businesses and communities, talent development and capacity building, strengthening governance and operational frameworks, as well as expanding strategic collaboration and cooperation.

The implementation of SCSR 2030 also brings together the government, state government-linked companies, critical infrastructure operators, businesses, academia and communities through a comprehensive approach to build a safer and more resilient digital ecosystem in Sarawak.

Also present were Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Cabinet Ministers and SMA General Manager Dato Dr Anderson Tiong Ing Heng. -UKASnews
