Bandung (West Java), – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 2 Bandung responded to information circulating on a number of social media platforms regarding the missing bolts holding the planks on the Cirahong Bridge, which had caused several parts of the planks to shift.
Following up on this information, KAI Operational Area 2 Bandung immediately conducted an inspection and repairs on site. Officers installed and replaced the missing fastening bolts to re-enforce the plank. The bolts were then reinstalled on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, Kuswardojo, expressed his appreciation to the public who have paid attention to the condition of railway infrastructure through social media.
“We are grateful for the information provided by the public through various social media platforms. This information serves as input for us and can be immediately followed up by officers in the field. After receiving the information, KAI Daop 2 Bandung immediately conducted an inspection and followed up by replacing the missing fastening bolts on the Cirahong Bridge plank on Wednesday, August 19, 2026,” said Kuswardojo.
Kuswardojo explained that the Cirahong Bridge is a historic railway infrastructure built in 1893. Since September 1, 2021, access to the bridge has been restricted, allowing only two-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians to pass through.
These restrictions are part of an effort to ensure train safety while maintaining the bridge’s strength and structure. KAI Daop 2 Bandung routinely inspects and maintains the Cirahong Bridge structure as part of its commitment to ensuring train safety and the sustainability of railway infrastructure.
“The Cirahong Bridge holds significant historical value and is part of our railway infrastructure that we must continue to safeguard. Therefore, KAI routinely maintains and inspects the bridge’s structural condition. We also continually remind the public to comply with the bridge’s regulations, which stipulate that it is only for two-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians,” explained Kuswardojo.
Furthermore, KAI Daop 2 Bandung urges the public to play an active role in ensuring train safety. If they encounter any unusual conditions, irregularities, or damage to railway infrastructure that could potentially endanger train travel, they are encouraged to immediately report it to the nearest KAI officer.
In addition, reports can also be submitted through KAI Customer Service at 021-121, so that the information can be immediately received and followed up by the relevant officers.
“Train safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage the public to report any potentially dangerous infrastructure conditions without hesitation. The sooner we receive information, the sooner officers can conduct inspections and respond in the field,” Kuswardojo concluded.
KAI Daop 2 Bandung emphasized that safety is a top priority in all operational activities. KAI also continues to conduct regular maintenance and inspections on railway infrastructure to ensure safe, secure, and comfortable train travel.
