KUALA LUMPUR — GoRental Global has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Green Tenaga Pte Ltd to jointly develop and validate the commercial potential of mobile Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Singapore and Malaysia.

Announced during the 4th ASEAN Battery Technology Conference (ABTC), the agreement is intended to make cleaner, quieter temporary power easier to access through commercial leasing rather than outright system ownership.

The agreement comes amid sustained construction activity in both markets. Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority expects S$47 billion to S$53 billion in construction demand in 2026, while the Department of Statistics Malaysia reported that Malaysia’s construction sector grew 8.5 per cent year-on-year to RM46.5 billion in the first quarter of 2026.

For project owners, this sharpens a familiar operational question: how to secure temporary power without diesel fuel handling or on-site exhaust, while protecting uptime and meeting safety requirements.

Under the MOU, Green Tenaga will lead engineering and system integration, with asset management support. GoRental will bring customer access and field deployment capability, alongside its leasing expertise. The first phase will centre on joint investment in and deployment of an initial mobile BESS asset. Commercial leasing will follow across both markets. 

The partners will target construction, infrastructure, industrial, airport, event and other temporary-power applications. Earlier this month, GoRental delivered an estimated 992.16 kWh of battery power over 36 operating hours at Outdoor Expo Malaysia 2026, avoiding approximately 803.65 kg CO₂e against a diesel-generator baseline. Green Tenaga says its manufacturing and integration ecosystem has supported more than 30 GWh of BESS deployments globally. 

For many operators, the barrier is not whether cleaner temporary power makes sense. It is whether the system will be dependable in live conditions and financially workable,” said Colin Peh, Managing Director of GoRental Global. “This partnership combines engineering depth with deployment experience, giving customers a practical route to try mobile BESS before committing at scale.

Customer projects are expected to include load assessment and system configuration, followed by deployment, live monitoring and post-use performance reporting. Data from live applications will help the partners assess fleet expansion and improve future mobile BESS solutions. The commercial timeline and pricing, including details of the first deployment, will be announced after the validation phase.
