SEREMBAN, July 25 – Bersatu’s N24 Seremban Jaya candidate, Mahendran Ramasamy, has called on political leaders to shift their focus away from divisive rhetoric and instead prioritise the welfare of the people, national unity, and Malaysia’s socio-economic development.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Mahendran said recent public discourse surrounding remarks made by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor should not distract the nation from more pressing issues affecting ordinary Malaysians.

He stressed that Malaysia’s strength lies in its multicultural society, built on mutual understanding, constitutional principles, and respect among people of different races and religions.

“Malaysia belongs to all its citizens. Our diversity is not a weakness but one of our greatest strengths. Public discourse should foster unity and constructive dialogue, ensuring every Malaysian feels this country is their shared home,” he said.

Mahendran said political leaders, government administrators, and policymakers should now concentrate on a people-centred agenda, as many Malaysians continue to grapple with rising living costs and economic uncertainty.

Mahendran outlined four key priorities that he believes deserve immediate attention:

1. Developing effective measures to ease the rising cost of living and reduce financial pressure on households.

2. Creating a more conducive economic environment to attract investments, support local businesses, and generate quality employment opportunities.

3. Improving essential public services, including education, healthcare, and basic infrastructure, to enhance the quality of life for families.

4. Ensuring inclusive socio-economic development so that every segment of society benefits fairly from government policies and development initiatives.

Mahendran pointed out that Malaysia’s future prosperity depends on the country’s ability to preserve unity and stability.

“Instead of wasting energy on rhetoric that creates unnecessary tension, we should unite our efforts to build a peaceful, prosperous, and secure Malaysia for future generations,” he added.

Mahendran Ramasamy is contesting the N24 Seremban Jaya state seat as Candidate No. 2 representing Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

He will be challenging Thinalan Rajagopalu of Barisan Nasional and S Mugunthan of Pakatan Harapan.

The polling date is on August 1.
