KUALA LUMPUR —  Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged university students to lead efforts in moving Malaysia beyond racial politics and towards a more united and progressive future.

Speaking during a gathering with Indian students at University of Malaya on Sunday, Anwar described students as a vital force capable of driving reform, strengthening unity and shaping a more harmonious society through knowledge, values and mature thinking.

He said young people have an important responsibility to reject narrow racial politics that only divide communities and threaten the country’s stability.

“The future of Malaysia depends on the courage and readiness of the younger generation to break down racial barriers in politics and build a nation that is more united, stable and competitive,” he said.

Anwar also reaffirmed the MADANI Government’s commitment to social justice, stressing that assistance and protection would continue to be provided fairly to all Malaysians regardless of race or background.

He said the Malaysia MADANI framework emphasises compassion, justice and well-being for all citizens across racial and religious lines.

During the event, the Prime Minister also announced an additional RM50 million allocation for the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA), increasing the agency’s total allocation this year to RM150 million to support disadvantaged and marginalised members of the Indian community.
