KUALA LUMPUR, May 5, 2026 — The Democratic Action Party (DAP) has reaffirmed its full support for the Negeri Sembilan state government while directing its party machinery to prepare for the possibility of snap elections in several states.

In a statement issued following its Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting on May 4, Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook said the party had deliberated on the ongoing political developments in Negeri Sembilan and adopted several key positions.

DAP stressed its continued respect for Malaysia’s constitutional monarchy, emphasizing that any matters involving royal institutions and local customs, including Adat Pepatih, must be handled with due respect and in accordance with the Constitution and state laws.

The party also conveyed its appreciation to Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir for his decree that the state government should continue to function under the leadership of Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

Reiterating its stance, DAP said it would not support any proposal to replace the Menteri Besar at this juncture, particularly after what it described as a failed attempt to bring down the existing unity government.

At the same time, the party has instructed all its branches and grassroots machinery to be on standby for potential snap elections in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor, should their respective state assemblies be dissolved in the near future.

The statement underscores DAP’s dual approach of maintaining political stability while preparing for any electoral developments arising from the current situation.
