Kuala Lumpur — The Federal Territories Department (JWP) has clarified that the Federal Territories Residents Representative Council (MPPWP) is not a business entity, but an official community representation platform established to strengthen the delivery of government services to residents.

According to JWP press release on Friday (April 17), MPPWP was formed specifically to support residents in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan through structured community engagement and coordination.

Its core responsibilities include managing public complaints, encouraging active community participation, and implementing programs aimed at improving residents’ well-being.

The department emphasized that MPPWP operates as a strategic partner to the government, focusing on empowering urban communities through inclusive, transparent, and high-integrity approaches.

“MPPWP is not established to conduct commercial or profit-driven activities,” the statement said. “Its members are strictly prohibited from misusing the organization’s identity for business purposes.”

JWP further warned that MPPWP members must not use official branding, including business cards bearing the MPPWP logo, for unauthorized fundraising, commercial activities, or personal gain outside their official responsibilities.

All MPPWP activities are subject to government financial and administrative regulations, including Treasury Instructions, Malaysian Treasury Circulars, and official guidelines governing the establishment and management of MPPWP.

The department stated that strict action may be taken under existing laws against any individual or member found abusing the name or position of MPPWP for personal benefit.

JWP also urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid being misled by individuals claiming to represent MPPWP for questionable purposes. Any regarding unofficial activities involving MPPWP members should be referred directly to the Federal Territories Department for verification.
