WASHINGTON, April 15 — U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran is nearing its conclusion, according to an interview reported by Fox News.
Speaking to Fox News journalist Maria Bartiromo, Trump said he believes the situation is close to being resolved, while confirming that a second round of negotiations will take place in the coming days.
“I think it’s almost over, yes. I see it as very close to ending,” he said.
The remarks come as peace negotiations between U.S. officials and Iranian representatives are expected to resume on Thursday, following a weekend meeting in Pakistan that ended without a breakthrough.
Despite expressing optimism, Donald Trump cautioned that the United States is not yet finished dealing with the situation.
“If I pull out now, it will take them 20 years to rebuild the country, and we’re not done,” he said, suggesting that Washington remains cautious about fully disengaging.
He added that all parties involved appear increasingly inclined toward reaching a peace agreement, raising hopes for a potential resolution to the prolonged tensions.
“We’ll see what happens. I think they very much want to make a deal,” he said.
