HONG KONG, Nov. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The GS1 Hong Kong Summit 2026, themed “Powering the Future with DATA”, concluded successfully today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event drew 600 corporate executives, decision-makers and industry experts to explore how the 4 essential elements of D.A.T.A – Digitalisation, AI, Transparency and Assurance – can drive future growth.
Ms Mable Chan, JP, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the HKSAR Government was the Guest of Honour and delivered opening address, “In the realm of logistics, data itself is gaining greater importance as the world demands goods to be delivered at record-breaking speeds and hyperefficiency. Without digitalisation and AI, ecommerce could never have blossomed to the current extent. I am glad that for years we have GS1 on our side, making incredible efforts to turn our logistics vision into reality through standard setting, advocacy and industry promotion.”
Mr Roy Ng, Chairman of GS1 HK, said, “Global supply chains are accelerating digitalisation, AI is reshaping decision-making, and regulatory requirements continue to rise. Hong Kong is advancing its digitalisation agenda to establish a more transparent foundation across sea, land and air supply chains. Product digital identity, underpinned by trusted and standardised data, is pivotal to global connectivity, competitive advantage and business growth. Enterprises must fully harness the potential of D.A.T.A – digitalisation connects everything, AI accelerates progress, transparency builds trust, and assurance drives growth.”
The Summit brought together more than 30 industry experts to share insights across a range of topics. Mr Hervé D’Halluin, Strategy Development Executive at Decathlon, travelled from the company’s headquarters in France to share how digital technology and product data can improve efficiency, transparency and customer experience; Aviation and supply chain leaders discussed the keys to cross-border supply chain connectivity to strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a distribution hub in the Asia-Pacific region; Executives also shared how to build trust in the AI era, leverage sustainability to enhance competitive advantage, and how AI Agents are reshaping supply chains.
The Summit also unveiled two major consumer research findings, including how Y2K culture is influencing Hong Kong consumer behaviour, and the CEO Pulse survey jointly released by KPMG China and GS1 Hong Kong, which examined the views of CEOs and consumers on AI applications, digital transformation and market change. To support Mainland enterprises in expanding into the Hong Kong and Asia-Pacific markets, a buyer connect session was held on-site, which served as a platform for Mainland brands to connect directly with cross-border e-commerce platforms and Hong Kong retailers.
Ms Anna Lin, Chief Executive of GS1 Hong Kong, shared, “As AI and digitalisation are reshaping the consumer experience, trust and transparency are becoming crucial. Brands can turn product digital identity into a competitive advantage – for example, by applying QR codes with GS1 Digital Link standards, they can instantly connect consumers to trusted data on ingredients, origin, certifications and traceability. This digital identity also enables AI to harness data from reliable sources and deliver highly relevant recommendations to build consumer trust.”
