In a parliamentary reply to Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman, the Digital Minister said GovTech Malaysia is pursuing a Whole-of-Government (WoG) approach to accelerate the country’s digital transformation agenda.
The approach focuses on data sharing, common digital platforms and the integration of services across ministries and government agencies to make dealings with the government easier, faster, safer and more efficient for the public and businesses.
One of the initiative’s key achievements is the development of MyGOV Malaysia, a central gateway for government digital services that uses MyDigital ID as its single sign-on facility.
As of Oct 8, 2026, MyGOV Malaysia had recorded 3,199,120 downloads and 3,014,096 active users, with 62 services from 22 public sector agencies integrated into the platform.
Through the application, users can check and pay traffic summonses, apply for replacement MyKad cards, check prices of essential goods, access travel and driving licence information, manage healthcare appointments, check examination results and search for unclaimed money.
The services are designed to save time and costs while reducing the need for people to visit government counters in person.
Beyond MyGOV Malaysia, GovTech Malaysia has also developed shared digital solutions, including TanyaKerajaan, an AI-powered platform that provides information and assistance.
Other services expected to be integrated include MyPersona, which aims to provide more personalised services, and MyAppointment for appointment management.
The shared-platform approach is intended to reduce duplicated system development across agencies, while optimising government spending and resources.
Expanding digital services from 2027
As part of its future strategy, GovTech Malaysia will focus on delivering quick wins by the end of 2026, including increasing the number of government services integrated into MyGOV Malaysia, expanding the use of shared digital platforms and introducing practical AI applications in government operations.
One of the initiatives is Agenda AI, an AI-powered meeting management system using agentic AI to automate processes ranging from recording and transcription to minute preparation and follow-up action monitoring.
From 2027, the government plans to shift away from developing individual applications towards a broader digital government ecosystem built around reusable platforms that can be adopted across ministries and agencies.
Key priorities include integrating services around citizens’ major life events, expanding the use of shared government platforms and strengthening data sharing and interoperability between agencies.
Under the life-event approach, citizens would be able to access related services through a more coordinated process without having to navigate different ministries or multiple systems.
The government also aims to implement the principles of “once-only” data submission and a “single source of truth”, reducing the need for citizens to repeatedly provide the same information to different agencies.
AI and agentic AI adoption will also be expanded responsibly, including the development of a government AI agent ecosystem to improve civil servants’ productivity and accelerate service delivery.
Cybersecurity, data privacy, data governance and digital skills development within the public sector will remain key priorities as digital services expand.
Towards citizen-centric services by 2030
Between 2028 and 2030, GovTech Malaysia aims to move towards a more integrated, proactive and citizen-centric model of government service delivery.
Under this model, services related to major life events — from the birth of a child and entry into school to starting a career, running a business and retirement — would be coordinated across relevant agencies.
Citizens would no longer need to deal separately with multiple government departments to complete related transactions.
The government said the objective of GovTech Malaysia goes beyond digitising existing processes. Instead, it aims to redesign how public services are delivered, with success measured by fewer steps, fewer documents, shorter waiting times and less need for citizens to understand the administrative structure of government agencies.
The broader strategy is intended to establish a more connected digital government ecosystem that improves the quality, accessibility and efficiency of public services for Malaysians and the business community.
