KOTA KINABALU, Oct 22, 2026 — The Sabah government has appointed three new members to the board of directors of KKIP Sdn Bhd, bringing professional expertise and broader industry representation to the leadership of the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP).

The new appointees are former Credit Guarantee Corporation (CGC) group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak, Penampang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCCI) president Datuk Kou Lee Chong, and UPKO Sepanggar division chief Datuk Wong Thien Fook.

Mohd Zamree, a Sabah native, has been appointed to represent professionals from the banking and financial sectors.

Kou will represent small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and business chambers in Sabah, while Wong, who previously chaired the KKIP Special Committee on Resettlement, will continue to address outstanding issues involving the relocation of original residents in the industrial park.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET) Datuk Ewon Benedick expressed hope that the appointments would strengthen the board’s leadership and contribute added value to KKIP’s management.

He also thanked Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor for endorsing the appointments, which were proposed as part of efforts to increase professional and industry representation on the boards of statutory bodies and government-linked companies under MINDET.

Ewon said the appointments reflected his proposal to achieve a better balance between professionals and industry representatives, on one hand, and representatives of government political parties, on the other.

The move is aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring that industry perspectives are better represented in the leadership of state-linked entities.

In a related development, the Sabah government recently appointed two new members to the board of the Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO), representing the Malaysian Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMM) Sabah and the Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

The appointments form part of the state’s broader effort to strengthen business and industry representation in the leadership of its development agencies and government-linked organisations.
