KUALA LUMPUR, 14 October 2026 – Selangor’s manufacturing base and accelerating adoption of advanced automation position the state to play a leading role in Malaysia’s industrial transformation, said Tim Bostridge, Managing Director of Hannover Fairs Asia Pacific, at the opening of the Selangor TechSphere Summit powered by Hannover Messe.
Bostridge said Selangor’s established industrial ecosystem, strategic location, skilled workforce and policies supporting innovation provide a strong foundation for the shift towards higher-value manufacturing and technology-driven industrial development.
“Selangor is Malaysia’s economic and industrial powerhouse,” he said, highlighting the state’s importance to the country’s export-oriented manufacturing sector.
Speaking at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Wednesday, Bostridge said the summit brings the industrial technology priorities of Hannover Messe to a Malaysian platform, connecting global industry developments with the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in the region.
He identified artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, smart manufacturing, digitalisation and energy infrastructure as key areas shaping the future of industry.
Bridging industrial ambitions and implementation
Bostridge said the alignment between Selangor’s industrial ambitions and Hannover Messe’s technology focus is evident in the shared emphasis on AI-powered industrial transformation, sustainable manufacturing, smart energy solutions and innovation at scale.
The focus, he said, is on technologies that can be applied in industrial environments and contribute to business and economic outcomes.
The summit’s four-day programme reflects these priorities, covering AI and the digital economy on Wednesday, semiconductors and microelectronics on Thursday, green technology and smart automation on Friday, and governance and talent development on Saturday.
The programme brings together industry experts to examine developments across these areas, which are central to Malaysia’s efforts to modernise manufacturing and sustain economic growth.
Bostridge congratulated the programme team for assembling the speakers and experts, while encouraging delegates to engage with sponsors and exhibitors showcasing industrial technologies and solutions.
Extending Malaysia’s engagement with global industry
Bostridge also highlighted Hannover Messe as an opportunity for Malaysian businesses to connect with international industrial innovation.
The next edition of the trade fair, organised by Deutsche Messe AG, will take place from 5 to 8 April 2027 at the Hannover Fairgrounds in Germany under the theme Think Tech Forward.
The event will focus on the industrial application of AI, alongside robotics, smart manufacturing, digitalisation and energy infrastructure.
Bostridge invited delegates who have not attended Hannover Messe to participate in the 2027 edition, encouraging stronger engagement with global developments in industrial technology.
He also acknowledged the Selangor State Government’s partnership in delivering the summit and thanked the sponsors, exhibitors and organising team for their contributions.
The Selangor TechSphere Summit is being held as part of the Selangor International Business Summit, providing a platform for discussions on the technologies and industrial capabilities shaping Malaysia’s future competitiveness.
