Shanghai, August 16, 2026 – PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) continues to strengthen its commitment to promoting sustainability efforts with Hsucheng Environmental Technology Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., (HCETS). This bilateral strategic synergy is aimed at providing Waste to Energy (WTE) solutions that can help reduce the burden of urban waste while producing useful energy while still paying attention to environmental sustainability aspects.

The synergy was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) and Hsucheng Environmental Technology Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., which was carried out by the President Director of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) Sandry Pasambuna and President Director of Hsucheng Environmental Technology Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Zhou Yitian (13/8).

President Director of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) Sandry Pasambuna said that this collaboration is an important foundation for both parties in building collaboration that is oriented towards sustainable efforts while encouraging the presence of green solutions that provide broad benefits.

“Indonesia needs a reliable solution to reduce its urban waste burden, one of which is through Waste to Energy (WTE) initiatives. However, the success of a WTE project depends not only on the technology used. The suitability of the technology to the waste characteristics, the quality of design and construction, operational readiness, asset reliability, emission control, and residue management are all crucial aspects that require comprehensive attention,” said Sandry Pasambuna.

In line with this, the President Director of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) Sandry Pasambuna stated that WTE development in Indonesia still has several aspects that can be strengthened, particularly technically. In this context, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) as a company engaged in Testing, Inspection, Certification (TIC) has a role to provide objective and independent assurance throughout the project cycle and support the acceleration of the construction and operation of Waste-to-Energy Power Plants/PSEL.

“SUCOFINDO is committed to providing objective assurance to ensure that quality aspects have been built from the initial stages of the project, while ensuring that the WTE facility can operate safely and reliably and is supported by adequate technical and environmental evidence,” said Sandry Pasambuna. President Director of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) Sandry Pasambuna continued, “In the development of Waste to Energy (WTE) facilities or Waste Processing into Electrical Energy (PSEL), PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) plays a role in providing assurance starting from the construction stage, operation, to maintenance of the facility. This role is carried out to ensure that each stage of the project meets the aspects of quality, safety, reliability, as well as applicable technical and environmental requirements,” explained Sandry Pasambuna.

Through this synergy, both parties are expected to achieve concrete results and provide mutual benefits. HCETS can gain a credible Indonesian TIC partner with national reach and understanding of local conditions. Meanwhile, PT SUCOFINDO (Persero) can accelerate the development of knowledge, human resource competencies, and technical methodologies in the WTE sector.

“This synergy not only strengthens SUCOFINDO’s role as an independent assurance agency but also opens up opportunities for broader positive impacts in sustainability efforts. We believe the collaboration between SUCOFINDO and HCETS can bring sustainable WTE solutions from the local to the global level,” said Sandry Pasambuna.

Furthermore, Sandry Pasambuna emphasized that this bilateral collaboration is part of a shared commitment to supporting efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions globally. He stated that developing appropriate WTE solutions not only contributes to waste management but can also be part of the transition to a more sustainable ecosystem.

“We believe that through close cross-border collaboration, supported by SUCOFINDO’s capabilities as a Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) company, efforts to support the achievement of Net Zero Emissions globally can be realized gradually and sustainably,” stated Sandry Pasambuna. In line with this statement, on the same occasion, President Director of Hsucheng Environmental Technology Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Zhou Yitian, stated that China and Indonesia have very strong potential to complement each other, both in terms of industrial resources, technological capabilities, and market needs. This condition provides a solid foundation to further strengthen and expand cooperation between the two countries.

“The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on industrial cooperation is an important step for HCETS in strengthening international development and promoting the expansion of China’s solid waste management industry expertise to the global level. This collaboration also reflects China and Indonesia’s proactive approach to leveraging complementary industrial strengths and jointly exploring opportunities in the development of solid waste management,” said Zhou Yitian.

President Director of Hsucheng Environmental Technology Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Zhou Yitian also added that going forward, HCETS will continue to optimize its advantages in technology, project management, and the application of intelligent technology in the solid waste management sector. “The company will also further strengthen collaboration with SUCOFINDO and related industry partners to deepen cooperation in various strategic areas, such as technology, talent development, standardization, and projects,” Zhou Yitian concluded.
