PORT DICKSON, July 25 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed the MADANI Government’s commitment to enhancing Malaysia’s defence capabilities while continuing to prioritise the welfare of members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and their families.

Speaking during a visit to the Army Basic Training Centre (PUSASDA) in Port Dickson, Anwar said the government remains committed to ensuring the ATM is equipped with modern assets and strengthened operational capabilities to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty, security and prosperity.

He said his visit was not only to meet with military personnel but also to express appreciation for their dedication and sacrifices in carrying out their responsibilities to defend the country.

Anwar highlighted that the government’s commitment is reflected in the 2026 MADANI Budget, under which the Ministry of Defence received its highest-ever allocation of RM21.7 billion, compared with RM16.1 billion in 2022, representing an increase of approximately 35%.

According to the Prime Minister, the increased allocation underscores the government’s determination to strengthen national defence, modernise military assets and improve the overall well-being of members of the armed forces.

In conjunction with Warriors’ Day, which will be observed on July 31, Anwar also announced that the government has approved an additional RM2 million allocation for the Warriors’ Day Fund as a gesture of appreciation for the contributions and sacrifices of serving personnel and military veterans who have defended the nation’s sovereignty.

He also expressed hope that all members of the Malaysian Armed Forces would continue to be granted the strength to carry out their duties, while assuring them that the government would remain steadfast in safeguarding their welfare, well-being and the needs of their families.
