SEREMBAN, July 25 — Bersatu candidate Mahendran Ramasamy has pledged to champion inclusive development, improved public services, safer neighbourhoods and transparent governance if elected as the next State Assemblyman for N24 Seremban Jaya in the 2026 Negeri Sembilan state election.

Mahendran is contesting in a three-cornered battle against Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Thinalan Rajagopalu and Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate S. Mugunthan.

Speaking to Press KL, Mahendran said his vision for Seremban Jaya is built on the principle that every community deserves equal representation and access to opportunities.

“My vision for N24 Seremban Jaya is guided by a simple belief: every community matters. Whether Malay, Chinese, Indian, Orang Asli or any other resident, everyone deserves fair opportunities, equitable attention and a responsive representative who preserves the rich cultural traditions that make Seremban Jaya strong,” he said.

Mahendran outlined several key priorities that he intends to pursue over the next five years if elected.

His first priority focuses on strengthening essential public services by advocating for the establishment of a fully equipped Seremban Jaya Health Clinic (Klinik Kesihatan), a dedicated police station and a fire and rescue station to improve emergency response times and better serve the growing population.

He also placed public safety high on his agenda, proposing the installation of high-definition closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at strategic locations throughout Seremban Jaya, alongside the upgrading of existing street lighting to brighter, energy-efficient LED lights.

According to Mahendran, these measures would help deter criminal activities, improve public security and provide greater peace of mind for residents, particularly those living in residential neighbourhoods and returning home after dark.

His second priority centres on transparent governance and direct engagement with residents. Mahendran said he plans to institutionalise monthly “Mesyuarat Meja Bulat Bulanan” involving residents, local leaders and state government representatives to discuss and resolve community issues without unnecessary bureaucratic delays.

In addition, he proposed introducing both physical and digital suggestion and complaint boxes to enable residents to report infrastructure defects, cleanliness concerns and other local issues, while allowing progress on complaints to be monitored transparently.

Mahendran’s third priority is improving family welfare and addressing cost-of-living pressures by establishing community support hubs offering family counselling, mental health guidance and parenting assistance to strengthen households facing economic challenges.

He said effective representation requires continuous engagement rather than interactions only during election campaigns.

“I commit to holding a Mesyuarat Meja Bulat Bulanan every single month. These sessions will directly connect residents and community leaders with the State Assemblyman and relevant state agencies for open, practical and solution-oriented discussions,” he said.

The N24 Seremban Jaya seat is expected to be closely watched as voters choose between candidates representing Bersatu, BN and PH in what is anticipated to be a competitive three-cornered contest.

In the 2023 Negeri Sembilan state election, the seat was won by S. Gunasekaren of Pakatan Harapan (DAP), who secured 11,289 votes to defeat BN’s candidate, who received 6,433 votes, by a majority of 4,856 votes. Perikatan Nasional finished third with 4,061 votes, making Seremban Jaya one of the constituencies where PH recorded a comfortable victory during the last state election.

With the political landscape becoming increasingly competitive in 2026, all three candidates are expected to intensify their campaigns over the remaining days before polling as they seek to win over undecided voters.
