KELANA JAYA, SELANGOR – CheckPointSpot (CPS) has been appointed the Official Timing Partner for The IHH Sky Race™ | Merdeka 118 2026, further strengthening its position as a trusted sports technology company supporting some of the region’s most demanding endurance events.
Organised by Fresh Events Asia Sdn Bhd , The IHH Sky Race™ | Merdeka 118 is recognised as one of the world’s biggest tower climb competitions.
Held at Merdeka 118, the world’s second-tallest building, the event attracts elite towerrunners from around the globe who take on thousands of stairs in a race where every second matters.
Unlike conventional road races, towerrunning presents a very different operating environment. Thick concrete walls, steel structures and a vertical race course require timing technology that can consistently deliver accurate results under challenging conditions.

As the Official Timing Partner, CheckPointSpot will deploy its race timing technology and experienced operations team to ensure accurate timing, real-time race results and reliable race data throughout the competition.
Benjamin Yeow, Group CEO of CheckPointSpot, said every endurance event presents its own operational challenges, with tower running being among the most demanding.
“Timing a tower race is very different from timing a road race. The environment requires careful planning, technical expertise and equipment that performs consistently inside a high-rise structure. We are honoured to support The IHH Sky Race™ | Merdeka 118 and help deliver an experience that athletes and organisers can trust.”
Beyond recording race results, Benjamin said that reliable event data has become increasingly important for helping organisers manage race operations and improve the participant experience.
“As endurance events continue to grow, organisers are looking for technology partners that can provide more than accurate finish times. Reliable race data supports better event planning, smoother operations and valuable insights that contribute to the long-term development of the sport.”
Jeff Ross, Managing Director of Fresh Events Asia Sdn Bhd, said that selecting the right technology partner was an important part of delivering an international-standard event.
“The IHH Sky Race™ | Merdeka 118 welcomes top athletes from around the world, and every aspect of the event must meet the expectations of international competition.
“Towerrunning requires specialised expertise, and CheckPointSpot demonstrated the technical capability and operational experience needed to support an event of this calibre.”
The collaboration reflects the growing role of technology in endurance sports, where organisers increasingly rely on accurate data and dependable race systems to deliver a seamless experience for participants, spectators and event stakeholders.
For CheckPointSpot, the appointment also reflects its continued commitment to supporting events of different formats, from road races and trail running to vertical endurance competitions, while helping organisers deliver world-class race experiences through dependable technology.
