PENAMPANG, July 3, 2026 — Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III and State Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick, today presented a RM30,000 contribution under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of Cement Industries Sabah (CIS) Sdn. Bhd. to the Penampang District Education Office (PPD) Club.
Ewon, who is also the Member of Parliament for Penampang, said the contribution from the Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) subsidiary was made in recognition of the achievements of teachers and school communities across Penampang after the district emerged as Sabah’s top-performing district in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
“In April, I announced my commitment to provide funding to the Penampang District Education Office as a token of appreciation for teachers and school communities throughout Penampang following the district’s achievement as the best-performing district in Sabah for the 2025 SPM results.
“This funding will support several initiatives organised by the Penampang District Education Office, including appreciation and excellence service awards ceremonies.
“On behalf of the people of Penampang, I would like to express my gratitude to the District Education Office, all principals, headmasters, teachers, school staff and the entire school community for their commitment and dedication to the early development of the nation’s human capital,” he said after presenting the contribution at the Penampang District Education Office today.
Ewon also expressed his appreciation to CIS for the CSR contribution and hoped that more Sabah state government-linked companies would undertake similar initiatives to support community development, particularly in the field of education.
He said collaboration between government agencies, government-linked companies and educational institutions should continue to be strengthened to further enhance educational excellence in Sabah.
Previously, Ewon also presented CIS CSR contributions to several organisations in Kota Belud, including RM50,000 to the Kota Belud Private Kindergarten Association, RM40,000 to the Kadamaian Welfare Club, and RM20,000 to the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SK Tengkurus.
The contributions reflect CIS’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and community welfare initiatives throughout Sabah.
