MUAR, — Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has dismissed claims that development in the state is uneven and forcing residents to migrate elsewhere, stressing that every district is guided by a comprehensive development plan under the Johor Economic Transformation Plan (JETP).

Onn Hafiz, who is also Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said the JETP provides a holistic framework that ensures each district receives equitable development while focusing on its unique socioeconomic strengths.

“As far as district development is concerned, the JETP provides a comprehensive roadmap where every district has its own development focus,” he told reporters after attending a community engagement programme in Parit Raja on Tuesday.

Also present was BN candidate for the Maharani state seat, Datuk Ashari Md Sarip.

Onn Hafiz said Johor’s improving macroeconomic performance has translated into tangible benefits for residents through welfare initiatives such as the Kasih Johor programme, ensuring that the state’s prosperity is shared across the “Bangsa Johor” community.

“As Johor’s economy continues to grow, the benefits are being felt by the people, particularly through programmes such as Kasih Johor. Therefore, the claims being made by certain parties are simply untrue,” he said.

Beyond the JETP, he said development in northern Johor is also being strengthened through high-impact industrial zones, including the Maharani Energy Gateway, which is expected to create new business opportunities and generate widespread employment.

The mega project is expected to stimulate the domestic economy while helping retain local talent by creating more quality jobs within the state.

Commenting on the Johor state election campaign, which has been underway for more than a week, Onn Hafiz, who is contesting the Machap state seat, expressed satisfaction with the smooth progress of BN’s campaign and the encouraging response from voters in Muar.

He also urged all political parties to maintain the positive campaign momentum and conduct their campaigns in a healthy and professional manner ahead of polling day.
