KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 — The Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC) has appointed Henkel Malaysia President Teoh Tsu-Shien as its new president following the chamber’s 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on June 18.
The AGM, held at Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown, marked a milestone for the chamber as Teoh became only the fourth woman to lead the bilateral trade organisation in its 35-year history.
Women now account for 38% of MGCC’s Board of Directors, reflecting the chamber’s ongoing focus on leadership diversity.
Teoh brings more than 30 years of industrial and regional leadership experience to the role. Since joining Henkel Malaysia in 1994, she has held senior positions across sales, key account management, business development and supply chain functions throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
She has served as President of Henkel Malaysia since 2018 and currently also heads Key Account Management for Consumer Goods and Packaging for Southeast Asia within Henkel’s Adhesive Technologies business.
MGCC Executive Director Hannes Farlock paid tribute to outgoing president Florian Herrmann, Chief Financial Officer of Infineon Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, for his leadership over the past year and welcomed Teoh’s appointment.
Farlock said Teoh’s extensive industry experience would strengthen the chamber’s efforts to deepen German-Malaysian trade relations and continue delivering value to its more than 460 member companies.

As president, Teoh will oversee MGCC’s activities and represent the interests of its membership base by fostering business links between German and Malaysian companies and promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
Commenting on her appointment, Teoh said she looked forward to working with the board and management team to strengthen MGCC’s role as a trusted partner for German investors in Malaysia while creating new growth opportunities for members on both sides.
“It is an honour to take on the presidency of MGCC at such an exciting juncture for German-Malaysian economic ties,” she said.
The AGM also featured a fireside chat on the outlook for German-Malaysian economic relations, foreign direct investment trends and future trade priorities.
The discussion brought together Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, German Ambassador to Malaysia Silke Riecken-Daerr, and German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) vice president Kirsten Schoder-Steinmüller.
The panel exchanged views on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and the opportunities shaping German-Malaysian trade and investment in the years ahead.
