PETALING JAYA – There will be no Perikatan Nasional (PN) Supreme Council meeting today, with the formal notice to be issued later in accordance with party procedures, says Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
In a Facebook post, the PAS Central Working Committee member said notices for the meeting would be distributed at the appropriate time to all Supreme Council members, including those representing Bersatu.
He also urged Bersatu leaders to remain calm and avoid making premature statements, saying such remarks were unhelpful to ongoing internal processes.
“Many journalists have been asking about this. The answer is no meeting today. When the time comes, notices will be issued according to the rules to all MT members, including those representing Bersatu,” he said.
Annuar said the current situation involved only the suspension of political ties between PAS and Bersatu, following what he described as PAS being placed in a position of having to choose between two factions within Bersatu.
He said PAS had initially sought to maintain relations with both sides, but ultimately had to suspend ties with one faction after a decision was made.
He added that the next steps must be handled carefully, taking into account legal and constitutional considerations, as well as the interests of other coalition partners including MIPP and GERAKAN.
According to him, neither PAS nor Bersatu should act unilaterally, as PN’s constitution provides clear procedures for decision-making.
Annuar stressed that the PN Supreme Council is the highest decision-making body in the coalition, although certain matters may be referred to the Presidential Council when necessary.
He also cautioned against statements that could violate party discipline or disrupt ongoing processes, warning that such remarks could lead to further action.
Annuar expressed confidence that a formal notice for the PN Supreme Council meeting would be issued soon, adding that discussions and decisions should be made through proper channels.
