MELAKA  — The Melaka chapter of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) has announced its intention to contest 16 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in the upcoming Melaka state election (PRN Melaka ke-16), expected to be held later this year.

According to the party, the decision reflects its commitment to field candidates who are credible, possess integrity, and have proven leadership backgrounds.

The move aligns with earlier remarks by Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, PAS Central Election Director, during the launch of the party’s election machinery in Melaka, said in a Facebook posting.

The 16 constituencies identified by PAS are Pantai Kundor, Paya Rumput, Klebang, Tanjung Bidara, Ayer Limau, Kuala Linggi, Taboh Naning, Rembia, Durian Tunggal, Ayer Molek, Pengkalan Batu, Telok Mas, Duyong, Sungai Rambai, Merlimau, and Serkam.

PAS Melaka called on voters across the state to support its candidates as well as those from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. The party emphasized that such support is crucial to forming a state government that upholds justice, integrity, and governance guided by Islamic values.

State PAS Commissioner Zulkifli Ismail said the party’s participation in the election is not merely political competition but a responsibility to promote truth, justice, and public welfare for all citizens, regardless of background.

He also expressed hope that unity and collective effort would lead Melaka toward a more prosperous and blessed future.
