KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed recent developments involving the United States and Iran, expressing strong support for a ten-point peace proposal advanced by Tehran and positively received by Washington.

Describing the initiative as a promising pathway toward de-escalation, Anwar said the proposal could contribute significantly to restoring peace and stability not only in the Middle East but globally, said in a Facebook posting.

He stressed that negotiations must be conducted in good faith, warning that efforts undermined by “deception and double-dealing” would jeopardize the prospects of a durable resolution.

Anwar underscored the importance of translating the ten-point framework into a comprehensive peace agreement, extending beyond Iran to address broader regional challenges in Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.

He also called on all parties to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza and ensure justice and protection for the people of Palestine, including an end to ongoing suffering and displacement.

The Malaysian leader extended appreciation to Pakistan and its Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, for their diplomatic efforts in facilitating dialogue among the parties.

He noted that Pakistan’s engagement reflects a commitment to constructive international cooperation.

Reaffirming Malaysia’s position, Anwar said the country stands ready to support and complement ongoing peace efforts.

He also urged the international community to ensure unimpeded humanitarian access to civilians affected by the conflict.

“This must be a turning point towards lasting peace,” he said, adding that the global stakes demand meaningful and sustained progress.
